The Art and Books of Marilyn Anderson

The work shown on these pages is done in the spirit of solidarity with Maya people. Marilyn's goal is to affirm and celebrate the cultural importance of Mayan arts and crafts and to increase knowledge and consciousness of it among those reached by her work.

Marilyn continues to advance her Pro Arte Maya project through exhibits, art work, publications and collaborations with Maya educators to distribute her Multilingual Mayan Languages/Spanish Edition coloring book: Artes y Artesanías Mayas de Guatemala to children in Guatemala.

My five card set, Guatemala - Women of Hope / Guatemala - Mujeres de esperanza, with bilingual Spanish / English text  is available for your holiday greeting card needs.

Whether to send to friends or as gifts, people who love indigenous Guatemala and others will appreciate the universal sentiment the images express.

Four sets of five cards each (20 cards) are available at the special end of year price of $30, including postage. (Regular price for four sets is $36.)

All profits from the sale of these cards go to education projects for children in Guatemala.

Two book launches happened in Guatemala last November and several articles appeared in Guatemala City newspapers. Now a book launch will take place in Rochester. It is co- sponsored by Greenwood Books and Rochester Contemporary Art Center, 137 East Avenue, on April 20th, 6-8 pm. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided.

Based on her 40 years-plus involvement with artist-artisan culture in Guatemala, the author will give a talk and show a selection of her woodcuts, photos and crafts items related to prints in her book.
